Child poverty matters as it undermines a child’s right to a good quality of life, increasing 
the likelihood of poor health and a low level of attainment in schools. There is also an economic argument for addressing the issue of child poverty; future economic success depends on the development of highly skilled workers. Child poverty is detrimental to this as adults who grew up in poverty are less likely to gain employment.
