After analysing the different policies and policy response by both countries, it is clear that New Zealand can learn lessons from the Australian model. Through this comparative analysis it has been evident that New Zealand lacks a clear coherent legislation on child abuse and the prevention of it. Therefore, New Zealand is failing its young people, as their lack of concrete and structured child abuse policy is causing statistics to increase. If New Zealand looks at the Australian policy responses, some ideas and considerations maybe adapted to create a reduction. This has been reflected in the policy recommendations for the New Zealand Government to consider in order to effectively reducing this child abuse issue in the country. Even more so, this study could further lead itself to more research in the area of child abuse prevention and reduction. By comparing other countries, and looking further abroad for policy responses, a more holistic approach could be attained. Despite this, the research has put forth a discussion that leads itself to set recommendations that would be beneficial to New Zealand effectively reducing violence against children.
