- Child Youth and Family received 49,063 reports of abuse that required further action in 2006
- 1,286 children were admitted to hospital because of assault, neglect or maltreatment between 2008-2009
- About 10 children are killed every year in New Zealand by a member or members of their family. This acquaints to approximately one child being killed every five weeks
- 90 percent of all child deaths
are perpetrated by someone the child knew - New Zealand has the fifth worst child abuse record out of 31 OECD Countries
- New Zealand places third by UNICEF when it came to the rate of child abuse per head of population
