Alignment to policymaking process

Undertaking a holistic assessment across different urban functions involves a significant number of variables making detailed assessment extremely complex. To this end the assessment framework is designed as a rapid appraisal tool which can first identify problem areas after which in-depth policy analysis can be undertaken (see stage 1, figure 3). As well as contributing to the initial stage of problem definition in the policy cycle, the assessment framework can also be utilized as an ongoing monitoring framework (see stage 5, figure 3).
