1. To make an active and more assertive effort to promote bus priority measures so that motorists will be more educated about how bus lanes should be used correctly and why this is necessary.
2. To permanently set in place a clear 50 metre indicator so that motorists know without confusion when they are permitted to use a bus lane. The best type of indicator, i.e., signs, symbols, road markings, etc, should be left to the discretion of the Council according to what is ergonomical and aesthetic.
3. An effort should be made to identify potential traffic/road hazards presented by bus lanes and bus lane ruels, and to minimise the risks presented by as much as possible.
4. The Auckland City Council should implement procedures that will make their enforcement measures more tranparent, credible and thus more fair and acceptable for those found to be using bus lanes illegally.
