Why Sick Leave Policy?

The issue of the lack of employee access to job-protected paid sick leave has been on the radar for many years and it has been widely studied.  The most common arguments in favour of a paid sick leave policy include: America’s comparatively underdeveloped policies, a favourable cost / benefit analysis, and the benefits for employee, familial, and public health.  This report also argues that job-protected paid sick leave is one of many mechanisms that can help strengthen the fabric of American society by promoting human flourishing and helping the poor climb into the middle class.
