Conclusion

Government failure analysis and comparative institutional framework provided that whilst there are failings of the current status of recycling in Auckland, initiatives utilised in Canterbury and Australia provide knowledge alternatives and revisions of this system. Canterbury’s three-bin system appears to allow for the correct reuse of organic matter. Whilst, Australia’s knowledge-producing magnetic stickers provide public education, and governmental lucidity provides balanced alternatives and experiences to draw from. This project shows that Auckland’s recycling policy needs further development and revision so to ensure that the best initiatives are in place to provide a sustainable super city.
