This project looks at the low-speed run-over accidents and injuries of small children in driveways. This is a preventable tragedy yet there has been no significant reduction in the number of children being hit by vehicles in recent years. Previous programs and reports by organisations have not achieved their desired goal and further illustrates that a problem is still occurring, despite it being preventable.
This project, taking note of previous research, takes a market failure analytical approach. It does this in order to determine why previous approaches have been unsuccessful and in order to make further recommendations in alleviating this issue. Ultimately it believes the central and local governments need to play a stronger role in this problem.
