  • Advisory committees comprised of local iwi and mana whenua.
  • Policy units dedicated to assessing Māori.
  • Treaty of Waitangi training for local authority staff, including both ‘front-line’ and ‘back-office’.
  • Supporting iwi capacity building so as to empower iwi.
  • Co-management schemes for resources of particular sensitivity or importance, such as the accord between Tainui and Environment Waikato over the management of the Waikato River.
  • Consultation processes taking into account Māori cultural values and practices, such as Hui.
